How Herd Navigator works

How Herd Navigator works

While your cows are being milked, representative milk samples are taken from specific milking points and sent, one-by-one, to the analysis unit.

The system automatically selects, via a sophisticated biological model, three things: one, which cows to sample; two, during which milking session a particular cow should be monitored; and three, which parameters should be measured.

Recommends what action to take

The results of the milk analysis are then processed in the biological model and a report sent to your herd management system with clear recommendations.

This alerts you to which cows need special attention, while arming you with suggestions about what action to take.

Works with DeLaval VMS, herringbone and parallel parlours

One Herd Navigator works with up to four DeLaval VMS, or up to 32 milking points in herringbone or parallel parlours.

Herd management integration

Herd Navigator software is easy to use with a well-designed, intuitive interface. It integrates smoothly with DelPro™ for VMS, and with ALPRO™ herd management for herringbone and parallel parlours.

"The technology to use Herd Navigator is really easy: it takes just ten minutes in the evening and in the morning,"
Monique Middag, Wapse, Holland.

Expert training included

To help you get the most out of Herd Navigator, a number of sessions with specially trained veterinarians or advisors are included.

Spread out over the first year, the sessions are designed to help you fine-tune the system to your farm and the way you work.

Herd Navigator comes with preset action proposals (standard operating procedures). Together with the advisor, you will be able to add functionality, step by step, to develop your own treatment schedules.

Remote access

You can of course grant access to the data generated by Herd Navigator to your veterinarian. This makes it possible to get up-to-the-minute advice based on real-time data from your herd.
